X-rav diffraction tor>ourarhic stud>r of the partly electroded prates or rerro-electrmc N3N0z crystals (S. Suzukz and M. Takag?: J. Phys. SOC. J'pn 32 (1972)[302) has revealed man>' small regions where the half wav state of the rotationatmotion of NOx radicals at the time of the r>olarization reversal had been quenched.Bv makinu use of the sensitive dot>endence of infrared vn absorption on theorientation of the NOx radicals, rotation annle of NOx at the reoions was esti-mated through the torosrar>hic (r>oint bx r>oint) measurements of the infraredabsorr>than. Tor>oxrar>hic coincidence between X-rav tor>osrarhs and infraredabsorption was confirmed. Present study is the first work which had detectedorientational change of mojecules in a single crystal by using infrared absorptionmeasurements in cooperation with X-ray topography.
