Weak Localization in Metallic Wire Systems in Contact with a Superconductor

A simple method is outlined for the calculation of the weak-localization correction to resistance for metallic wire systems in contact with a superconductor. To illustrate the approach, calculations of the resistance correction are carried out for simple systems. We found that the weak-localization correction for a normal-metal wire is enhanced when an end of the wire is connected to a superconductor instead of a normal-metal probe. A similar enhancement is also seen in a normal-metal ring in contact with a superconductor. Resistance oscillations with unusual period hc/4e are discussed for a doubly-connected structure containing a superconducting segment.
