A Simple Model for the Taylor Vortex Flow

A set of coupled-mode equations describing time evolution of the propagating wavy vortices in Couette flow between two concentric cylinders is presented using Williams' method. In a way similar to the case of the model employed in previous papers by the author, time evolution of the present model is investigated with the aid of numerical integration. The results on dynamical behavior of these two models are found to be in agreement with each other.
