Comments on the WKB Approximation in Calculations of Kink Free Energies

We present a simple method of calculating kink free energies at low temperatures by means of the transfer integral technique. Careful treatment of the WKB method gives the correct results obtained by DeLeonardis and Trullinger for one-component scalar fields. We apply this method to the uniaxial Heisenberg ferromagnet and correct the standard WKB result obtained by Bishop, Nakamura and Sasada by the factor π/e.
