The upper critical field H_<c^2> of superconductors with an anisotropic Fermi surface and containing a small amount of impurities is calculated at low temperatures. The resulting expression for a reduced upper critical field h(t) (=2ℏeH_<c^2>v_F^2/c(2πk_BT_c)^2) is given by h(t)=h(0)(1+η_1t^2ln((C_1t+C_2λ)/√<h(0)>)+η_2t^2), where h(0), η_1 and η_2 depend on the direction of the applied magnetic field with respect to the crystal axes, C_1 and C_2 are numerical constants, t a reduced temperature (T/T_c) and λ a reduced mean free collision frequency (ℏ/2πk_BT_cτ). The temperature dependence of H_<c^2> observed by Williamson in Nb and V is explained by the above expression.
