The semantic confusion created by the inconsistency between the term ethnography and a non-ethnic group (a categorical population) studied has remained unchallenged for many years, even when cultural anthropologists study the culture of a primary group of a categorical population. This study attempts to resolve the issue of semantic confusion. In an effort to do so, this study proposes a pair of new terms : (1) ethnography coefficient and (2) categorical populography coefficient. These new terms and the formulas calculating the coefficients are designed to facilitate the further development of the study of cultures in ethnography, cultural anthropology, and human science.
