Complicarions of Limb Salvage Procedure Using Huckstep Intramedullary Rod for Soft Tissue Sarcoma.

We report the complications of 3 cases reconstructed with Huckstep intramedullary rod for invasive soft tissue sarcoma of the femur. Case 1, a 67 years old male, had malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) invading the left femur. The femur was treated with intraoperarive radiotherapy and reconstructed using Huckstep rod. The rod failed at screw hole 1 year and 1 month after operation. Case 2, a 65-year-old female, has MFH contacting with the right femur. At sugery the partially resected femur was treated with alcool and osteosynthesized with the Huckstep rod. 2 years and 3 months after operation, she fell down and had condylar fracture of the left femur. Case 3, a 22 years old male, had clear cell sarcoma invading the left femur. The femur was treated with intraoperative radiotherapy and reconstructed using Huckstep rod. After operation, bone absotption advanced at the osteotomy area.
