We proposed an alternative laser ablation technique for preparing nanoparticles dispersed in a solvent. By setting a solvent, instead of a solid substrate, in an evacuated chamber, ablated materials were injected into the solvent through a gas, resulting in the formation of colloidal nanoparticles. In this study, we demonstrated that colloidal nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution can be prepared using ethylene glycol as the solvent. We also demonstrated that the composition of the nanoparticles produced can be controlled by adjusting the composition of the gas in the chamber.
