The magnetic and electronic properties of manganese-diffused $\beta$-SiC(100) was investigated using the ab initio pseudopotential plane wave method. It is found that SiC(100):Mn shows stable ferromagnetism. The total magnetic moment of SiC(100):Mn depends on the substitution layer. The SiC(100):Mn-p($2\times 1$)-1st slab is predicted to have a half-metallic property and stable ferromagnetism with 3 $\mu_{\text{B}}$ magnetic moments.
