Novel Pull-In Process Using Input Shaping for Solid Immersion Lens-Based Near-Field Recording System

We propose a novel pull-in process using a preshaped input for the air gap control of a solid immersion lens-based near-field recording system. The input of the pull-in process is designed as a three-impulse input to reduce the residual vibration of the actuator and shorten the pull-in time. The three-impulse input is based on the characteristic of the actuator. The three-impulse input substitutes a ramp input and the handover process of the mode switching servo. Little residual vibration after the pull-in process makes this process possible. By this process, the settling time and overshoot of the pull-in process are reduced markedly.
