Usefulness of the enzymatic method (combination of sphingomyelinase, alkaline phosphatase and chotine oxidase) for assay of sphingomyelin content in human plasma was confirmed by a comparison with TLC method.Of the plasma phospholipids, only sphingomyelin was hydrolyzed by this Sphingomyelinase.<BR>The ratios of choline Phosphoglyceride/choline phosphosphingoside determined by the enzymatic method agreed well with that determined by the TLC method.
