Chemical effects of the <SUP>59</SUP>Co(γ,n)<SUP>58m,g</SUP>Co reaction and of the isomeric transition of <SUP>58m</SUP>Co in Co(acac)<SUB>3</SUB>, Co(acac)<SUB>2</SUB>, and Co(acac)<SUB>2</SUB>·2H<SUB>2</SUB>O were studied by using a vacuum sublimation technique. In the isomeric transition, highly enriched <SUP>58g</SUP>Co(acac)<SUB>2</SUB> was separated from <SUP>58m</SUP>Co(acac)<SUB>3</SUB>. By the (γ,n) reaction, about a half of the radioactive nuclides produced were found in the form of Co(acac)<SUB>2</SUB> after irradiation of Co(acac)<SUB>3</SUB>. The present results were compared with those obtained by other authors.
