The crystal and molecular structure of the title complex has been determined by X-ray analysis. It has been found that the <I>cis</I>-N<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> octahedron about the cobalt(III) has a large distortion caused by the steric compression between the two adjacent <I>N</I>-methyl groups.
