• By the successive replacement of CO<SUB>3</SUB><SUP>2−</SUP> ions in the [Co(CO<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>3</SUB>]<SUP>3−</SUP> complex with 2-pyridinecarboxylic acid (Hpicol), the [Co (CO<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>(picol)]<SUP>2−</SUP> complex and two geometrical isomers of the [CoCO<SUB>3</SUB>(picol)<SUB>2</SUB>]<SUP>−</SUP> complex have been prepared. By the reaction of the <I>cis</I>-[Co(CO<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>(NH<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>]<SUP>−</SUP> complex and picol, three geometrical isomers of the [CoCO<SUB>3</SUB>(picol)(NH<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>] have been prepared.
