A case of recurrent giant-cell tumor of the radius after sixteen years from the first therapy.

Recurrence of giant-cell tumor of bone is often seen within the five years following surgery. Recently, we experienced a rare case where begin giant-cell tumor recurred in the right radius sixteen years following surgery. The patient was a 34-years-old male. In 1967, excision of the tumor and arthrodesis of the right wrist joint was carried out. Recurrence of the tumor was not evident upon radiological examination during the three years following surgery. In 1983, he sustained a pathological fracture of the end of the right radius due to the recurrence of the tumor. Wide resection of the radius and bone grafting along with electrical stimulation with direct current were carried out. Bony union was achieved successfully with no recurrence of the tumor. No malignant transformation was found in the histological examination.
