Treatment of tumorous condition with constant direct current.

Electrical stimulation of direct current was given to six patients with bone cyst to promote bone healing. The site of lesion was the proximal part of the humerus in all the patients. Two or three of the Teflon-coated K-wires were inserted into the lesion cavity as the cathode and 10 microamperes was given to each cathode continuously for the average duration of 15.8 weeks. The effects of electrical stimulation were judged radiologically according to Baker's classification. Five of them showed reduction of bone cyst lesion in size, and of radiolucency of the lesion. They were effective by electrical stimulation except for one case who showed no change of radiological findings. We concluded that electrical stimulation can be one of choices for treatment while complete healing can be hardly obtained.
