A case report of freeman-sheldon syndrome with increased creatine phosphokinase.

Freeman-Sheldon syndrome is characteristic of whistling face, flexion contracture of fingers and congenital club foot etc..A four-day-old baby girl with this syndrome consulted our clinic for her bilateral club foot deformities. Because of her physical undergrowth and rigid deformity resisting to manipulation, postero-lateral release operation was done at the age of 14 months. Pre-operative laboratory data showed increased creatine-phosphokinase (170IU). The anticipated malignant hyperthermia during operation under general anesthesia began to occur, but was managed to avoid severe condition by cooling treatment done at its early stage. Due to the above fact, we think this syndrome may have a possibility of myogenic origin. She can stand and walk by herself somehow or other 6 months after operation.
