A new triterpenoid, (17α, 20<I>R</I>) -dammara-12, 24-dien-3β-ol, was isolated (as the acetate) from the fruits of <I>Clusia guaviarensis</I> and was identified by spectroscopic and chemical methods. This is the first example of a naturally occurring triterpenoid with a (17α, 20<I>R</I>) -dammarane skeleton.
