DNA Ploidy Pattern and Prognosis Patients with Rectal Cancer; Statification by Depth of Invasion of the Tumor, Lymph Node Metastasis and Stage.

The nuclear DNA content of 151 rectal cancers was measured by flow cytometry to study of relationship between DNA ploidy and prognosis using stratification by depth of invasion of the tumour, lymph node metastasis and histological stage grouping. DNA ploidy correlated with above-mentioned factors. The patients with diploid cancer showed a significantly better prognosis than those with aneuploid cancer among 135 patients excluding the cases died of other cause. When the patients were stratified by depth of invasion of the tumor, lymph node metasta-sis and histological stage grouping, there was a significant difference in survival rate between diploid and aneuploid tumors in the patients with ss(a1), n(-) and stage II cander.
