The trials were carried out to examine the effects of spreaders on the actions of fingicides for control of tea gray blight caused by Pestalotia longiseta SPEG. The three fungicides, chlorothalonil (75% WP), captafol (80% WP) and Thiophanatemethl (75% WP), and the three spreaders, Atlox BI (polyoxyethylenhexitanfatty acid ester 50%), Toku-Ace (dialkylsulfosuccinate 9%, polyethylen alkylallyl ether 31%) and Rabisan Spray (spray oil 98%) were tested. Chlorothalonil (Dilution 1:800) became slightly effective with the addition of Atolox BI (1:500 or 1:1000) in the application at 1 day after plucking, while it could not control the disease without the spreader in the same time application. However, the effect controlling the disease was still unsufficient for practical use. Toku-Ace (1:1000) and Robisan Spray (1:500) equally influenced on the effectiveness of the chemical.<BR>Captafol (1:2000) successfully controled the disease with any one of the spreaders in the application at 1 day after plucking, although it was not sufficiently effective without the spreaders in the same time application.<BR>Thiophanatemethyl (1:2000) controled the disease without any spreaders in the application at ?? 3, days after plucking, and the, extension of intervals between plucking and spraying by the addition of the spreaders was not observed.<BR>In combination with Atlox BI, chlorothalonil residues in tea leaves and in tea infusions were investigated by means of gaschromatography with ECD. The amounts of chlorothalonil in both samples sprayed with the spreader were less than that of no-spreader. It was presumed that this fact might be caused by the decrease in the primary deposits of the liquid owing to the wetability on tea leaves.
