Ultra-high-frequency (UHF) method has been widely used in partial discharge (PD) detection in GIS. The most crucial part is ultra high frequency sensor. In this paper, in order to meet the widely detecting range of ultra broadband, a PD sensor based on two-arm equiangular spiral antenna is designed and optimized, the key parameters of which mainly influence the performance of the sensor. Through simulation and contrastive study, the key parameters' values have been confirmed, which improve the sensor's performance to a great extent. Then, the physical model is made and also an optimization design scheme for UHF sensor is proposed. The method used in this paper provides an optimization way for the design of PD sensor.
