Peroxidase (POD) and esterase (EST) isozymes of some Scopolia spp. were analyzed by native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). Rhizomes of resting stage were collected for enzyme extraction. After staining, the electrophoretic isozyme patterns of both enzymes were analyzed by cluster analysis. It was found that these Scopolia spp. might be devided into two groups; one consisted of S. caucasica, S. carniolica, and S. japonica, and the other of S. sinensis, S. tangutica and S. lurida.
