The Conception of Choku(直), Uprightness of Confucians and in Kojiki. Confucian thought contains the ideas that "one should requite others for 'wrong' with 'love' (報怨以直)" or "father should cover up his sons crime from other person (子為父隠)." The editors of Kojiki sympathized with the first idea expressed by 報怨以直 (Return good for evil); in Shindai-no-maki, the first volume, they adopted this idea and colored up some stories. However, in the middle and last volumes of Kojiki, there are many stories that one returns evil for evil (報怨以怨). The latter part of Kojiki is almost the record of actual events and the editors' idea is not reflected there. Next, we can not find the stories that father covers up his son's crime from other person, throughout the whole volumes of Kojiki. The editors did not seem to be interested in such moral. The Conception of Faith (忠), of Confucians and in Kojiki. The conception of 'faith' of Confucians comprises two sorts. One is 'sincerity' and the other is 'loyalty'. The former means general moral and the latter means class moral. The conception of 'loyalty' is not found in Kojiki. However, the editors knew the conception of 'sincerity', and in Shindai-no-maki they adopted it pretty much. It seems that this conception had spread in Japanese themselves in the period described in the last volumes.
