In this essay, we have shown the influence of kodo (filial piety 孝道) and teido (brotherly piety 悌道) of the Confucians in China on Kojiki. First, as to kodo, the filial piety, several examples that are related to it in Kojiki can be pointed out. Especially, in the second and the last volumes of Kojiki, its influence is clearly seen. Its influence, however, is not seen in Shindai-no-maki (the Book of Myths 神代の巻). It seems that the editors of Kojiki did not try to adopt the conception of the filial piety when they arranged the myths. Next, as to teido, brotherly peity of the Confucians, there are many stories against brotherly piety in every volume of Kojiki', however, there are few examples in which brotherly piety is observed. From this fact, Japanese people in ancient times lacked, it seems, the conception of brotherly piety. Even the editors of Kojiki who are the most highly educated persons at that time, did not necesssarily try to adopt the conception of brotherly piety when they arranged the narratives. In the last volume of Kojiki, however, we can find a few stories in which we see the influence of the brotherly piety of the Confucians.
