An accurate numerical solution is presented and applied to the electromagnetic scattering by a set of dielectric spheres with various diameters and positions. The method of modal expansion is for solving boundary value problems using the mode matching method, where the electromagnetic fields in the air and dielectric regions are approximated using Shcelkunoff Bessel function and Stratton vector spherical wave functions, respectively. The treated structure is a fundamental model of modeling millimeter wave scattering by realistic distributed raindrops. Introduce QR decomposition based on Gram-Schmidt orthoganalization to reduce the computation time.
