The noise tolerance and confidential property of code-shift-keying (CSK) optical CDMA (OCDMA) system with balanced detection is investigated. Performance improvement over on-off-keying and CSK-OCDMA with single detector is verified in the comparative experiment. A multi-user CSK-OCDMA system is demonstrated with 511-chip SSFBG en/decoder. An 8-user, 10.7Gbps/user, asynchronous CSK-OCDMA system was also demonstrated in the experiment with BER<10^<-9>, without using FEC and optical thresholding. This scheme uses the multi-port encoder/decoder in a novel configuration to process multi-dimensional optical codes.
