The superstructured fiber Bragg grating (SSFBG) can be applied for optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) and optical code (OC)-label based optical packet switching (OPS) networks. The performance of phase-shifted SSFBG for optical code (OC) recognition was investigated quantitatively with different reflectivity as well as input pulse width. The approach of applying apodization technique to improve the performance in high reflectivity regime is proposed. The OCDMA and OPS experiments with SSFBG are conducted as well.
