The industry in Akkeshi mainly consists of two forms, "dairy" and "fishery". We researched the life conditions of the homemakers as a subject, an important workers at both of those industry forms, dairy and fishery, and who keep family health and nutrition, in their very busy period. Through this research and analysis of the eating habits and health condition, we understand the differences of both areas and use this research for health activities as data. At the end of March in 1997, the population of Akkeshi is 13,049, there are 4440 families, and the average numbers of families are 2.9. And the productive population is 65.2%, the dependent population is 34.8%. The subject areas of this research are Ota and Katamusari-dairy areas, the productive population is 58.7%, old age population is 23.6% and Tokotan-fishery area, the productive population is 61.4%, old age population is 18.9%.
