Laser Thomson scattering (LTS) technique has been used to measure electron density (n_e) and electron temperature (T_e) profiles in a striated plasma of a plasma display panel (PDP) like discharge. The measured n_e at a height of 100 μm from the electrode surface was monotonically increasing and higher on the cathode side than on the anode side of the discharge. A modulation in n_e was observed on the anode side, which agreed with the total integrated emission images measured by an ICCD camera. An out of phase modulation of about 180°was observed for the T_e profile.
