On Optical Absorption in Semiconducting KTa_<0.87>Nb_<0.13>O_3

In order to investigate the source of the optical absorption observed in some semiconducting oxides in the nearinfrared region, measurements of the optical absorption, photoconduction, electrical resistivity and Hall coefficient were carried out in semiconducting KTN. From these experimental results, it is concluded that the intense optical absorption was not due to conduction electrons.
