Measurement of a Specimen with a Discontinuous Elasticity Variation Using Spherical-Planar-Pair Lenses

This paper gives a mathematical formula describing an angular spectrum of an ultrasonic wave which is reflected by the flat surface of a solid with a discontinuous variation of elastic constants. Theoretical calculation was compared with experimental observation, and found to show satisfactory agreement. The formula was developed to model the elasticity measurement of functionally gradient materials using spherical-planar-pair lenses.
