Low Frequency Oscillations in Copper Doped Germanium

The low frequency bulk oscillations in germanium compensated with deep level impurities have been investigated. The transverse magnetic fields are required for the oscillations; the frequencies are 0.3 to several kHz. To look for the mechanism of the oscillations, the samples which have a wide surface contact and several base contacts with the opposit surface are used. The observed current oscillations have been classified to several types, depending on the time-varying distribution modes of the oscillating currents among the contacts. And also drift velocity of the filament is estimated.
