A distinct densification can be observed by cooling under high pressure regardless of the characteristics of the structure in chalcogenide glasses. In As_2Se_3 glass, the amount of densification increases with pressure and pressurizing temperature. The increase of dc conductivity and the decrease of its activation energy and of optical band gap are observed, and are proportional to the amount of densification. The increment of dc conductivity at 20℃ by densification agrees well with the expected values based on compressibility and the pressure coefficient of dc conductivity. The increment of dielectric constant at 1 kHz by densification can be explained from Clausius-Mossotti relation.
