In order to collect the fundamental data to estimate the amount of grain growth in weld-heat affected zone, the relation betwren thermal cycle condition and grain growth was obtained experimentally using a commercial-purity nickel. Experimental results are summarized as follows. 1) It was confirmed that grain growth during thermal cycle can be calculated using the experimental data on isothermal grain growth. 2) Grain growth during thermal cycles of various conditions was calculated and confirmed experimentally. 3) Effect of initial grain size on grain growth during thermal cycle was clarified. 4) Corresponding to the initial grain size, the method to know the grain size after arbitrary linear thermal cycles was obtained.
