With regard to the Japanese Cumacean Crustacea fourteen species and one variety have been reported [Miers (1879), Marcusen (1894), Hilgendorf (1894), Zimmer ('03, '21, '43), Calman ('11, '12), and Marukawa ('27)]. Very recently the author had an occasion to study small collection of the animals dredged in the vicinity of Manazuru and Hatusima, and found that Eocuma lata Calman and Iphinoe sgamiensis sp. nov. are comprised in the collection, besides formerly known Sypodomma diomedeae (Calman), Heterocuma sarsi Miers and Dimorphostylis asiatica Zimmer. 1. Eocuma lata Calman (Fig. 1) Female specimen (length, 9.4mm.). The external characters of the female specimen differ from the original description by Calman ('07) (3.5mm. long immature female from Gulf of Siam) in the following few points: 1) Antero-lateral teeth on carapace are more prominent. 2) Dorsomedian and dorso-lateral carinae on carapace are well marked. 3) The length of ocular lobe is apparently shorter than its width. 4) Basis of the first pereiopod is one-half as long as the distal joints together. Carpus is a little longer than propodus and nearly twice as long as ductylus. 5) There are three plumous hairs on the inner edge of peduncle of uropod and seven on the inner edge of endopod instead of one on each of the peduncle and the endopod. In the female specimen (length, 8.2mm.) from Trivandrum in India reported by Kurien ('51) there are seven plumous hairs on the endopod. Male specimens (length, 13.5 and 12.8mm.). The male specimens differ slightly from that described by Zimmer ('52) (about 6mm. long male from Indo-Chinese Sea), in having a group of spines on the lower surface near the inner edge of basis of the first pereiopod. The present male specimens dffer from Fage's description (8.5mm. long male from Annan) ('45) by having many plumous hairs on the outer edge of exopod of uropod. These differences may probably due to growth and individual variations. The fresh colour of male specimen is reddish white. Occurrence: 1♀, near Hatusima, Apr. 22, '57; 2♂, off Yosihama, depth about 20m, sany bottom, June 17, '57. 2. Iphinoe sagamiensis sp. nov. (Fig. 2) Type female with marsupium (length, 9.0mm.). Carapace is one-fourth of the total length of animal and a little deeper than wide. Pseudorostral lobe is about one-seventh of length of carapace. Antennal notch is deep. Antero-lateral angle is prominent, having two large teeth at its apex and small teeth on either side. There is a pair of spinules in front of ocular lobe. Dorso-median carina is distinct. There are about thirteen forwardly pointed teeth on the anterior half of dorso-median carina. Ocular lobe is prominet. Antennule: The first joint is nearly equal in length to the third. The second joint is shorter than the first. Flagellum and accessory Flagellum are damaged and are not observed. In another subadult female apecimen accessory flagellum is two jointed and one-half as long as two jointed main flagellum. Distal joint of the main flagellum has two aesthetascs, which are subequal in length. Third maxilliped: Basis is nearly twice as long as the remainder distal joints together and its antero-external angles is developed into a long, stout process reaching the end of that of merus. There are several teeth on the inner edge of the process of basis and such teeth are found on both edges of that of merus. Carupus is not widened distaly. First pereiopod: Basis is about four-fifth times as long as the remainder distal joints together. Carpus is nearly equal in length to propodus and about one-third as long again as ductylus. The lateral edges of basis are serrated. There are one plumous hair and teeth on each distal edge of ischium and basis. Second pereiopod has six joints and is smaller than the third. The distal joint is equal in length to the two preceding joints. Abdomen is equal in length to carapace and free thoracic segments together.
