顎関節症治療における Myo-monitor の使用経験

Clinical dentistry has long been concerned with the recognition and treatment of functional disorders of masticatory system called the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) syndrome. Through the years treatment of this syndrome has involved numerous modalities. The objective of this article is to investigate the clinical evaluation of the treatment using the Jankelson Myo-monitor in comparison with the Splint therapy. The results were as follows : 1. Effectiveness for the limitation was 65.3%, followed by pain (64.6%), then by displacement of mandible (53.1%), and clicking (48.3%), with an aggregate of 59.7%. 2. As to the chief complaint, effectiveness for the limitation and clicking was significant. 3. As to the causative factor, effectiveness for the occlusal disharmony, trauma, bruxism and hypermobility was higher. The treatment using the Myo-monitor as the adjuvant therapy is useful for the TMJ syndrome, especially for the case which is caused by the muscle spasm.
