Antibiotic Activity of Unsaturated Fatty Acids on Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus

The minimum inhibitory concentrations of ten fatty acids and their methyl esters on Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA #10 were investigated. The highest antibiotic activity was observed for γ-linolenic acid (C_<18:3>), and when the concentration was 500μg/ml in the medium, the MRSA cells were all killed.
