• The effect of hydrostatic pressure on the low-ternperattmre strtrctural phase transitions inN(CH3)4XBI3 (X : Mn,Xi, Cd) has been studied. The I-II transition temperatures of N (CH3),)-MnBr3 (l4OK at atmospheric presstmre), N(CH3),jNiBr3 (l35K), and N(CH3)jCdBr3 (l61K;the ferroelectric Curie temperature) increase linearly with increasing pressure with coefficientsof 0.075K/MPa, 0.O92K/MPa, and 0.086K/IV1Pa, respectively. As pressure increases the IIIII transition temperature of N(CH3))NiBr3 (97K) decreases with a pressure coefficients of'0.07K/1VIPa. The results are cornpared with those previously reported for N(CH3),j.YCl3-typecrystals (X : Mn, Cd) and discussed.
