Effect of Hydrostatic Pressure on the Normal-Incommensurate-Ferroelectric Phase Transitions in Rb_2CoCl_4 and Rb_2CoBr_4

Effect of hydrostatic pressure has been studied for the normal-incommensurate-ferroelectric phase transitions in two isotropic ferroelectric crystals, Rb.CoCl. andRb.CoBr.. The pressure coefficients of the normal-incommensurate transition temperature, d T,/ cap, are - 12 K / GPa for Rb.CoCl. and -l- 39 K / GPa for Rb.CoBr.. The in-itial pressure coefficients of the incommensurate-ferroelectric transition temperature,(d7'./dp)., are -70K/GPaand -52K/GPaforRb.CoCl.andRbzCoBr.,respectively. The results are compared with those of other K.SeO.-type ferroelectrics ob-tained so far, and discussed.
