A variational study of the ground state of the antiferromagnetic spin 1/2 XYand Heisenberg models is presented. The present approach to the quantum spinsystem is complementary to what has done by Anderson and Fazekas. In thepresent approach the obtained ground state wave functions show a kind ofsublattice order. A consideration on properties of the true ground state of theHeisenberg system is also presented.
