The linear and third-order nonline;rr dielectric susceptibilities in the type-II incontatnenstrratephase were investigated on the basis of the Landatr-type thermodynamic potential. The expression for the fleqtzency dependence of the third-order stusceptibility in the incouaarnenstrratephase, for xvhich the theruaaodynanaaic potentiatl incltrdes no Lif'shitz invariant, was obtained. ItXV2LS fotrnd that the third-order nonlinear strsceptibility shoxvs a .jtrnap xvith the change of' its signat the inconanaenstrrate transitiota point ex'en in the second order transition, which is certrsedby the contribtrtion ['rona the attaplittrde ttaode of the ztaodtrlated strtrctttre. XVe found thztt thethird-order strsceptilcility reflects the beh?tvior of' the ataaplittrde naode in tlae incornttaenstrratephase. As a restrlt, it hats ttnrned otrt th;tt the tneastrrenaent of' third-order nonlinear dielectricstnsceptibility becouaaes a power['trl zaaethod as 21 probe for the anaplittrde mode in the uaaodtrlatedstrtrcttrre.
