The dependence of the'H spin-lattice relaxation rate (T. ') on temperature and fre-quency was measured in phenothiazine crystal in order to help clarify the mechanismof the ferroelastic phase transition on this material. T . ' in the low temperature phaseshows the completely opposite frequency dependence to what the usual theory forT. ' based on thermal molecular motion expects. Such novel behavior of T. can beexplained by the existence of a central-mode, and analysis of T . ' in the high tempera-ture phase according to the central-mode theory led to the critical exponent of - 1.0.[NMR, spin-lattice relaxation, ferroelasticity, phase transition, critical exponent, ll central model
