Theory of the X-Ray Absorption Near Edge Structure (XANES) at a Deep L_<2,3> Edge Studied by the Short-Range Order Multiple Scattering Theory

The XANES spectra at a deep L.,3 (or M2.3) edge are discussed within thetheoretical method previously developed by the authors. For the fixed samples inthe space, the interference term between .v- and d-waves emanating from theionized atom appears. On the other hand the interference term disappears forthe randomly oriented samples. The XANES function is derived where only the#-wave emanating from the central atom is taken irnto account. Applications toSi L.,. XANES spectra in Sin. and SiF. are given.
