KNO Scaling in High Energy Proton-Nucleus Interactions

The distributions of n.. and V, in proton-nucleus interactions were investigatedin the regions of 4>N.>1 and N.>18 making use of the nuclear emulsion pet-licles exposed to 205 and 405 GeV proton beams, respectively.<.n,)/D (dispersionof n,) of high N, is significantly large compared with that of low 7V.. It can beconsidered that (n,)/D increases as v (the number of target nucleons encounteredwith incident proton). KNO distribution may scale to the center of mass energyat a definite value of v.
