Crystal Growth, and Magnetic and Mossbauer Studies of Sr (Fe_<0.766> W_<0.234>) O_3 and Its Related Compounds

Single crystals of the disordered perovskite-type Sr(Fe ..7 6.W....4)0. have beengrown from a flux of SrClz. The crystals grew with a cubical habit with distinct(100) faces. Magnetic measurements indicated antiferromagnetic behavior orweak-ferromagnetic one with very small spontaneous magnetization (x0.028emu/g). The existence of Fe" was suggested by the M6ssbauer technique. TheN<Set temperature is 193 K. The differences of structural, magnetic propertiesand M6ssbauer effect between Sr(Fe.....Wg....)0. and Sr(Fe.7.W.7.)0. aregenerally explained by assigning the valence states of the two samples asSr(Feg .l.5gFe35g.W35..)O. and Sr(Fe75Wf5)0. respectively.
