Effective Coupling Constants for M1, M2 and E3 Transition in f-p Shell Nuclei

Electromagnetic transitions for low-lying states in "Ge were examined bymeasuring gamma rays and internal conversion electrons following the "'Zn(a, n)"Ge reaction. The 734-keV gamma ray was found to be the single-quasi-neutron(lgg7z-elf5z.) M2 transition. The halflife is (102+10) ns. The reduced M2 matrixelement is (2.32.J.0.24) (ett72Mc)' fm'. This gives the renormalization factor.("'(M2)/.(""(M2)=0.25f0.03. A systematic survey was made of the single-quasi-particle M2(1g.,.->If,.), the single quasi-particle E3 (l:./2S2P./,)and the /-forbidden Ml (1f.7.-+2p.7.) transitions in the fp-shell nuclei. Therenormalization factors for these transitions were analyzed in terms of the corepolarizations associated with those transition modes.NUCLEAR REACTIONS "Zn(a, n)"Ge, f.=l5.4s2l.5 MeV; meas-ured E, E., I, I., delayed 7. "Ge deduced 7'1/.. Natural target. Ge(Li)and Si(Li) detectors.
