Temporal variations of intensities of spectral lines in a nortmal-ir?cidencevacttum. ultra-violet region em.itted from oxygen and carbon impurities of tokamakplasmas have been studied both experintentally and theoretically. Experirn.entalresults have been coumpared with theoretical ouaes calculated num.erically by using aplasma model involving ionization, radiative and dielectronic recombinations, finite confinement tim.es of impurity-ions, and influxes of neutral impurities fromwalls. The initial rise of electron temperature has been estirmated in such a waythat the peak-times for spectral liutes in successive states of ionjzation coincide inboth experimental and numerically-calculated results. The estimated electrontemperatures are found to be consistent with those obtained from measurementsof ruby-laser ligltt scattering and soft X-ray spectra.
