A simple collective model has been developed for the injection of a Supersonic Molecular Beam (SMB) into a tokamak plasma. The penetration depths and fuelling profiles in HL-1M, JT-60U and ITER-like tokamaks with typical steep and flat plasma density and temperature profiles have been estimated analytically. It was found that the plasma profiles have a strong effect on the SMB penetration. The calculated penetration depth for HL-1M plasma parameters agrees well with the measured one.
