Superconducting Transition Temperature of Aluminium Fine Particles

The superconducting transition temperature T_c of films of aluminium fine particles deposited by gas evaporation method was determined by measuring dc electrical resistance. The observed values of T_c were distributed from 1.5 to 2.5 K, about 5/4∼2 times of that of bulk metal, for the samples of average particle diameter 150∼50 A. The observed enhancement of T_c was not explained by the surface softening of the particles only.
