According to the Webb theory of ionic hydration modified by the Onsager reactionfield, an internal pressure of liquid water 7?.(H.0) is calculated by using exclusivelythe physical properties of water at the temperature T = 298 K and the externalpressure Iatm; 7t,.(H.0)=ll.6kbar, which is the pressure of liquid water as anelastic fluid equaled to an electrostatic force per unit arca at the surface of an ioniccavity. The cavity has been clnarged up to the elementary unit of e, and takes the sameradius as that of the Onsager cavity for water, 1.93 A. The calculated value agrees ex-actly with the value of TS"/ V' in terms of the standard molar entropy and volume ofwater, .5' and V', and also favorably with TAS'/A V'= 10.9 kbar in terms of thestandard entropy change and volume change in the self-ionization of liquid water,AS'/ and A V'/. This relationship may be extended to the individual aqueous Tons of H"and OH .
